Building a New Identity for a Changing Business

THE SITUATION

Comedy Wire’s business model had changed. What originated as a community sounding board where comedians could collaboratively hone their material had evolved into a white label writing solution for enterprise clients including I Heart Radio.

OUR APPROACH

To help grow this new monetization model, we first built a new brand architecture that would serve as the foundation of their new story. Then we repositioned, re–named and designed a new visual identity for the brand.

To create their new visual identity we chose to honor the new name and art of writing by choosing a clean, san-serif typographic system.  Then, inspired by the origins of the brand and comedy writers still driving their offerings, we worked to create an identity that would feel fun and playful. Next, we added a playful mix of colors and created a cast of characters to lighten the tone. 

Once complete, we built assets to externalize the new brand story including designing and building a new website.
